An oil landscape painting Of A stretch of the River wye
This painting, oil on panel, was inspired whilst out walking at Monsal Dale which lies near Bakewell in Derbyshire.
One of the most popular beauty spots in the Peak District, with absolutely fabulous dales scenery.
As the title of the painting ‘The River Wye’ suggests, the walk took me much of the way along the banks of the river.
I couldn’t resist this view along the valley which to me epitomizes our beautiful English countryside.
I moved some cattle in this painting onto the river bank and in the water to help the perspective, I often move or add animals to a picture, one of the joys of having artists licence. I have no objections in adding animals to a painting as they add life and improve a landscape painting.
